Learning and Development in An Organization
Learning and Development in An Organization
What is Learning and Development?
According to Noe, R. A (2013) we
can’t underestimate the importance of training and development for businesses.
He also states, that “overall goal of T&D is learning”. Learning is the
process by employees acquiring the necessary skills, knowledge, and attitudes. However,
in addition to employees' personal gain, "companies’ competitive
advantage, through improving employee performance" will also a positive outcome
from T&D. And it is also a kind of an investment in the company’s future accomplishments.
What is L&D Strategy?
An organization's approach to
building the capacities, competencies, and skills of its workforce is outlined
in a learning and development (L&D) strategy. It is one of the major parts
of the overall business strategy.
A strong organizational training and development strategy should be created by the organization, and it should include both specialized internal training for team training and development needs such as a variety of public and open-enrollment programs for employees' individual learning needs. This will lead the organization to reach higher profitability through employee development. This can also be used as a tool for improving productivity and motivating employees. Motivation for Training and Development
Employee morale is boosted by
staff training since it identifies candidates for potential advancements in the
future. It is essential to provide optimal training and development
opportunities for every employee, even at the risk of losing them to other
organizations. Reports show that with this growing awareness of the
importance of training and development over the past decades, the employees
were spending more on these T&D activities.
Communication and Proficiency
Communication plays a key role in
fostering a learning culture within an organization. Employees with strong
communication abilities learn more about the policies and technologies that are
essential to their work, which leads to a larger sense of duty and
accountability, both of which enhance competency.
Attitudes in Training on Attitude
The relationship between training
and attitude as it relates to working with others. A positive attitude makes an
employee a stakeholder in the process and prioritizes job completion. Furthermore,
positive organizations achieve a relationship between employees and management. The partnership embraces participation in
teamwork activities and endless learning efforts. Further, an employee’s
participation in decision making and problem solving develops through T&D.
Employee Capacity Building as Model
for Organizational
For employees, learning,
training, and development might mean two different things. It can be viewed as
a natural motivator because it fosters the learning, development, and progress
of employees. Giving employees more tools to use at work to accomplish their
goals can also serve as an extrinsic motivator. Therefore, by providing the
necessary training, management of organizations should assist employees in
expanding their knowledge and abilities and upgrading their experience and developing themselves. It is
generally accepted that when employees gain more knowledge about their duties,
their confidence grows and they are able to work with less direct supervision
from their immediate managers, which in turn strengthens their dedication and
sense of self-efficacy.
